just another standard ROCK N’ ROLL PIZZA PARTY and by “standard”, we don’t mean boring. our standards are actually really really HIGH.

this is how seriously we take our PIZZA PARTYING.

october 2nd: THE GORGON & THE ANGRY DRAGONS

two out of town bands will be set to destroy ROCK N’ ROLL PIZZA PARTY on october 2nd. we’ve got THE ANGRY DRAGONS from MANITOBA who are “influenced by The Ramones, The Rolling Stones, and Link Wray, they feature both bubblegum-chewing ballads and trashy rock ‘n roll.”

they are on tour with THE GORGON from winnipeg and are “an all-girl power trio with a jones for distorted Link Wray guitar, love of P.J. Harvey in her 50 foot Queenie phase and an attitude that’s been seriously steeped in the steaming cauldron of Winnipeg Punk Rock.”

september 18th: TOKYO SEX WHALE & MERCY NOW

ottawa’s premiere rawkers TOKYO SEX WHALE will be rawkin’ the ROCK N’ ROLL PIZZA PARTY this week. they will be joined by toronto’s THE MERCY NOW who are a “Rock and Roll power quartet with meaty hooks, hacienda melodies, a balls out soul clap, and lots of noise for music lovers who want to shake. Influences include the MC5, Prince, Small faces, Tv on the Radio, Frank Black and STAX.”

doors are at 9 pm and the first band will go on at 10 pm.

SUMMER.

this summer has been absolutely amazing at ROCK N’ ROLL PIZZA PARTY! thanks a lot to everyone who comes out every week and to anyone who comes out in general.

we’ve had a lot of great bands come out and play and we’ll have a lot more to come. one thing that is going to change is the TIME that bands go on. we are going to make sure that when there are bands doors will be at 9 PM and the bands will go on at 10 PM SHARP! this means if you want to come see a band play make sure to get your ass down there early or else you’re going to miss out.

september 11th : FOUR STROKE & THE MOTHERFUCKERS

FOUR STROKE are from ottawa and have a classic canadian punk rock sound à la D.O.A. & DAYGLO ABORTIONS.

THE MOTHERFUCKERS are from calgary and have a similar approach with a very 80’s punk/hardcore sound.

august 28th: SAVAGE CRIMES & PIRATE/ROCK

SAVAGE CRIMES bring back to where it all started for them way back in march when they played their first show. they were young boys then and they’ve now grown into fierce young men who are worthy of their name.

they will be joined by PIRATE/ROCK who are a duo of toronto who have an infatuation with distortion. think jesus & mary chain distortion with an angular post-punk feel with some garage influence thrown in.  they come to RRPP with the recommendation of grady of HOLY COBRAS.

august 21st: GUNSMOKE & THE WALNUT KIDS

GUNSMOKE’s western canadian tour comes to it’s last stop at ROCK N’ ROLL PIZZA PARTY. they’ve played RRPP many times and it’s always a great time.

they will be playing with THE WALNUT KIDS who are an excellent band from montreal. they play insanely catchy punk rock. take one listen to the songs on their myspace page and you’ll be hooked. guaranteed to be your new favorite band.

there will be also be a guest dj set from THE GEMINI SIDE SHOW who are twin terrors that are celebrating their birthday that night.

should be an insanely great time.
